Service Contracts vs. Manufacturer Warranties
An RV extended warranty — more accurately called a vehicle service contract — helps cover repair costs when your RV's systems and appliances suffer mechanical failure. Unlike a manufacturer's warranty that comes with a new RV, extended warranties can be purchased at any time and customized to your needs.
These plans cover motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, and other recreational vehicles. Coverage typically applies at any licensed repair facility in the United States and Canada.
What Extended Warranties Cover
Extended service plans cover mechanical breakdown — when items fail during normal operation. This includes engines, transmissions, refrigerators, air conditioners, generators, slide-outs, and many other components depending on your plan level.
Remember: extended warranties are not the same as RV insurance. Insurance covers damage from accidents, weather, and theft. A warranty covers the repair bill when your AC compressor fails mechanically, not when a tree limb damages the rooftop unit.
